Choosing Your Stance

Before you start rolling, you need to determine your stance. Your stance is how you position your feet on the skateboard, and it’s personal to your comfort and style. Here are the two main types:

To find your stance, try pushing a skateboard with one foot while standing on the other. The foot you use to push is usually your back foot. Practice both to see what feels best!

How to Roll Confidently

Once you’ve chosen your stance, it’s time to start moving. Follow these steps:

  1. Place Your Feet: Stand on the board with your front foot near the front trucks and your back foot on the tail.
  2. Push Off: Use your back foot to push against the ground, giving yourself momentum. Keep your knees slightly bent for balance.
  3. Find Balance: Shift your weight to your front foot as you glide. Look ahead, not down, to maintain control.
  4. Stop Safely: Drag your back foot on the ground or step off gently to stop.

Practice in a flat, open area at first. As you gain confidence, try slight slopes. Download the Skate Tricks app for slow-motion tutorials to perfect your technique!
